Additional components used in websites such as games and videos are usually programmed in Java - a popular computer language. Other types of software that are need when designing a web page are plug-ins. Adobe flash player and Microsoft Silver light are very good examples for internet browser plug-ins that allow for content available on certain web sites to be viewed by users.

Interface designs are a major task in web designing. Interfaces have to be user friendly, so that non-technical viewer will not have problems when visiting the web site. The web page design also depends on what type of service the web site offers. if the domain contains private data such as email addresses and usernames, security measures will have been implemented in the websites to ensure security. There are special layouts for certain types of web sites. Forums and blogs usual each have very standard layouts. In each case, the site has to accommodate the uploading of content from users. The content; usually comments or replies, consist mainly of text. The scenario is different in social networks where the web design accommodates uploading of images etc, which is known as web 2.0 technology.
